Teachers can't function effectively if they don't have the social emotional skills that are necessary to maintain emotional balance and manage the stress of teaching. For the last 10+ years, there has been a focus on student social emotional learning and the benefits of this emphasis has been remarkable! However, the movement ignored the social emotional skills of the teachers. Today teachers are leaving the field in ever increasing numbers, citing the persistent and often overwhelming stress of the job. Colleges of Education are also reporting declining enrollment in their teacher preparation programs. Our aim is to start at the beginning - equipping those who want to enter the teaching field with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a satisfying and joyful career.
